Sensory Skills teaches you the essentials of sensory evaluation in a practical and interactive manner. It investigates the way we perceive what we taste and how to apply this knowledge when evaluating coffee’s natural characteristics.

About the Event

Intermediate level is ideal for someone already working in the area who wants to develop their knowledge of sensory skills. It is broken down into three areas: How we taste, perceive and interpret; Running a cupping session and tasting the diversity of coffee; How to set up sensory skills in your business.


Upon the successful completion of the course and its practical and written exams, you will receive a Sensory Intermediate certificate from the Specialty Coffee Association and 10 credits from the Coffee Skills Program.

A deposit of 1000 TL is required up front to secure your slot. The remainder will be paid on the day of the workshop. 


Jonathan Vaz Matías is a Coffee Consultant who has been working in the last years with coffee shops from all around Europe and Latin America and also counseling coffee farmers, in many countries like Costa Rica, Panama, Indonesia, Colombia, Venezuela..., while being in charge of export tasks, from green bean selection to sales managing.

He has been part of numerous coffee festivals, organising workshops or giving lectures (mainly about Sustainability and specificities of coffee chemistry and sensory skills) and holds an AST license as Authorised Trainer by SCA for Barista Skills, Sensory Skills and Brewing. His two coffee roasteries, Acuerdo Project and Andes Coffee Reserve, are meticulously focused in high quality nano lots and sustainability.
